Photography FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Before The Session
What season is best for photos in Oklahoma? Living in Oklahoma means the weather is always a wild card, but every season has its own vibe. Here is my breakdown:
- Spring: Green grass and blooming flowers. Con: It can be rainy and we have to dodge the wind.
- Summer: Golden sunsets, wildflowers, and warm evenings. Con: The humidity and heat (we will sweat, but I’ll make it look good).
- Fall: The crowd favorite. Crisp air, layers, boots, and colorful leaves. Con: The window for peak color is short (usually mid-Oct to mid-Nov).
- Winter: Moody, dramatic, and cozy. Think coats, coffee, and stark landscapes. Con: Everything is brown, and it gets cold fast.
- My Pick: I love shooting year-round, but late Fall and early Summer are hard to beat for that golden-hour glow.
What should I wear? My philosophy is simple: wear what makes you feel like YOU. If you are uncomfortable, it will show in the photos. I suggest neutral, earth tones (creams, tans, greens, blues) as they photograph beautifully and don’t distract from your faces. Avoid giant logos or neon colors. Feel free to text me photos of your outfits beforehand—I’m happy to help you style the shoot!
What if I’m awkward in front of a camera? I promise you, everyone feels this way. Because of my background as a pro athlete, I know exactly what it feels like to be the subject. My job isn’t just to click a button; it’s to direct you. I won’t leave you hanging. I’ll give you prompts, make you laugh, and guide you into natural movements so we capture real moments, not stiff poses.
Can I bring my dog? Yes. A thousand times, yes. Pets are part of the family. Just bring some treats and a leash, and let’s make it happen.
The Day Of
Where will we take the photos? I have a list of favorite spots around Tulsa and the surrounding areas—from urban downtown vibes to open fields and nature trails. If you have a specific spot that is special to you (a family land, a favorite coffee shop, or a local park), let me know! We can shoot anywhere that fits your story.
What if it rains? I watch the Oklahoma radar like a hawk. If it looks like a washout (heavy rain or dangerous storms), we will reschedule. But don’t be afraid of clouds or wind! Overcast days create beautiful, soft light, and wind adds movement and drama to your photos.
What happens if I get sick or have an emergency? Life happens. If you or a family member wakes up sick, please let me know as soon as possible. I build wiggle room into my calendar so we can reschedule your session to a date when everyone is feeling their best.
After The Session
When will I see my photos? I know you are excited to see them, so I always try to post a “sneak peek” on social media within 48 hours of our session. For the full gallery, my standard turnaround time is 2-3 weeks.
How do I get my images? No need to come back in for a sales meeting. I deliver everything via a beautiful, private online gallery. You will receive a link via email where you can view your photos, share them with family, and download the high-resolution files directly to your phone or computer.
Do you offer 35mm film? Yes! I am a huge believer in the timeless, tangible feel of analog film. You can add a roll of 35mm film (black & white or color) to any portrait session. It adds a nostalgic, authentic texture that digital just can’t replicate.
Do you edit the photos? Absolutely. Every photo you receive gets my signature edit for color, exposure, and tone. I keep things looking natural and authentic—I don’t do heavy body alteration, but I will make sure the lighting and colors look incredible.
